Authentic Growth in CS

I'm Facundo Rodríguez, a 23-year-old Computer Science student at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. I'm really into cybersecurity, functional programming, and where tech meets creativity. My journey isn't about being perfect. It's about facing challenges head-on and turning them into opportunities to grow.

Right now, I'm deep into learning Haskell, working through cybersecurity challenges on HackTheBox Academy, and building up my math skills with MathAcademy. When I'm not coding, I make music - everything from J-rock and EDM to epic classical pieces inspired by Souls-like game soundtracks and K-pop. It's my creative outlet that balances the technical side of things.

Core Belief

Real growth happens when we admit our challenges but keep pushing forward. Every bug fixed, every concept understood, every melody created - they're all steps toward making something that matters.

My Path So Far

Starting at ORT Argentina

My higher education began at ORT Argentina, but I realized it wasn't the best fit for how I learn and what I wanted to achieve. Leaving was tough, but it taught me important lessons about knowing myself and finding an environment where I could truly thrive.

Finding My Home at UBA

At the University of Buenos Aires, I found a challenging yet supportive place that matched my goals. Here I'm building a solid CS foundation while diving into the specialized areas that fascinate me most. The structured curriculum really pushes me to understand concepts deeply.

Working Through Math Challenges

Like many CS students, I've had my struggles with math. But I've reframed this - I don't hate math, I'm building a relationship with it. With consistent work through MathAcademy, I'm turning this weakness into a developing strength. It's a slow process but I'm seeing progress.

What's Next

I'm focusing on deepening my cybersecurity knowledge, mastering functional programming with Haskell, and exploring how technology can solve real problems. I'm committed to sharing my progress openly - both wins and struggles - as I develop as a technologist.

Realness Over Perfection

I believe in showing the actual learning process, struggles included. By being open about my journey, I want to make it normal to talk about the challenges we all face in tech. Growth comes from persistence, not from pretending everything is perfect on the first try.

Every challenge is a chance to grow. When I get stuck on a math problem or a complex Haskell concept, I remind myself that this frustration is where the real learning happens. The struggle isn't a sign of failure - it's part of the process of understanding something deeply.

My ultimate goal is to develop skills that let me create solutions with real impact. Whether through secure systems, well-crafted code, or tools that help others, I want my work to matter. I'm starting with myself but hope to expand that impact over time.

Music production isn't just a hobby for me. It's a creative counterpoint to my technical work that keeps me balanced. The patterns in music composition actually mirror those in coding, and the discipline of creating music strengthens my problem-solving skills in unexpected ways.
